Farewell to a Great Friend of Friends

It’s time to say “Farewell” to long-serving Friends of Gwinnett Seniors (Friends) board member and community leader, John Winters. John and his wife, Joan, are relocating to the sunny beaches of Florida to be closer to their daughter and her family.

John, a retired Certified Financial Planner and founder of Cornerstone Financial Partners, LLC, served the best interests of Gwinnett County for decades by sharing his leadership skills to community advisory groups, area nonprofit organizations, and regional senior interest groups. In addition to spending time as President of the Gwinnett Council for Seniors, he also dedicated more than a decade to Friends of Gwinnett Seniors, where he not only served as President for two years, but also stayed on the board’s Executive Committee to mentor four subsequent presidents.

Winters also represented senior interests by serving as a community representative on the Gwinnett County Planning Commission and was vice chair of the County’s Transportation study group. Not long ago, John was selected as the Gwinnett County delegate to the Atlanta Regional Commission’s Senior Issues Advisory Group.

When John was not busy advising clients, attending high-level community interest group meetings, or spending time with his family, he could always be found playing at a nearby golf course or pickleball court or showing up “youngsters”  in the gym at exercise classes.

John Winters is a great friend of Friends. We salute him for all he has accomplished and wish him well as he and Joan leave our community.

Thank you, John Winters.
